Multi-filters: key principles

Multi-filters: key principles

You can add as many filters as you want in the search bar. The scope of the possible searches is infinite!  All our results are therefore calculated immediately.
Multi-filters can be launched while filtering over a period and a project:

The search will then follow the following rules:

Filters on different criteria  (AND)

When filter values are called, by default, the results will be crossed.  Therefore the following search :

will select the comments with the Aroma Echalote Ciboulette , but only those whose length reaches between 300 and 400 characters.
TO SUM UP
Two values searched on different key criteria will be linked by an  AND criterion.

Filters cumulated on common criteria (OR)

When values are positioned side by side on the same parent criterion, the results are added. Indeed, since each comment can only take one value for each filter criterion, searching for two values of the same criterion would always mean obtaining no results. This is why for joint values, the results are cumulative (not cross-referenced). Thus, the following search:

will select the comments whose length reaches between 0 and 50 characters with the comments with the length from 300 to 400 characters.

TO SUM UP
Two filters on the same key criteria (here the length of comments) will be linked by an  OR criterion.

Mixted filters  (AND / OR)

The following search on 2 distinct key criteria :

will correspond to filter that :

and will filter the crossed search of a group of 2 values of the filter  Age with a group of 2 values of the filter  Génération.

Filtering several categories at the same time

The same rules apply to the category search.
The notion of parent criteria should be clarified: A parent criterion is the higher-level category on which a category depends. Thus, at the level of categories:
  1. A search on two categories will cross them (AND).
  2. When sub-categories are positioned side by side on the same parent categories, the results are added (OR).
  3. Search on two distinct sub-categories, that do not have a common parent category, will cross-reference them (AND).
  4. When sub-categories are positioned side by side on the same parent sub-categories, the results are added (OR).
  5. A Search on two distinct sub-categories that do not have a common parent sub-category will cross-reference them (AND).

Priority rules

The order of operations is important for filtering. If in a search for ORs and ANDs appear, the OR always takes precedence over the AND.

TO SUM UP
In the platform, when searches are mixed, the OR searches will get priority on the AND searches.

ONE ADVICE ?

At any time, in all input fields (filters but also project), type all or part of a filter or project and you will obtain in auto-completion mode a list of proposals, with the corresponding hierarchy of themes, filter criteria, and all corresponding filter values:
