The notion of conflict

The notion of conflict

Defining date criteria or filters globally or on one axis can lead to conflicts on the others.

What is a conflict?

This is an inconsistency and contradiction in the requests, which means that no data can be found in the desired selection.

Let's imagine that in a benchmark, the user chooses to filter globally only in the year 2019. If in column A, it places a filter only on the 2018 data, then there is a conflict between the overall period and the period in column A. Same situation if in line 1, a period 2017 has been established: Global filter, column filter A and line filter 1 will be inconsistent and contradictory. No data can be selected. An error message must then indicate to the user his error.

The solution offers an intelligent tool for monitoring and analyzing the conflicts generated during the creation or editing of the benchmark. This tool is useful to avoid data gaps or conceptual inconsistencies in data cross-referencing.
In particular, this tool allows you to see where some inconsistency has been detected and to explain exactly what the problem is. We can indeed distinguish several types of conflicts: conflicts of date, themes or filters.

When such conflict appears, we invite you to click on the Detected Conflict icon that appears and read the explanations in the filters tab on the inconsistency(s) that the tool has detected.

The explanation format will be as follows (Click on display details):
